Acupuncture treatments are tailored to your individual needs. Other modalities such as those listed below may also be included in your treatment plan at no additional cost. I strive to clearly explain techniques and answer any questions you may have before including them in your treatment.

  • AcupunctureAcupunctureVery fine, sterile disposable needles are used to stimulate Qi, or energy, along the meridians (pathways) to bring the body into balance and restore health. The needles are gently inserted into specific points to alleviate pain, and treat various physical, mental and emotional conditions. The practice of acupuncture originated in China more than 3,000 years ago.
  • Herbal TherapyHerbal TherapyPersonalized herbal remedies may be prescribed to reduce acute conditions or to strengthen the body in the case of chronic conditions. These remedies are comprised of natural materials such as bark, leaves, roots and flowers.
  • MoxibustionMoxibustionWarming specific acupuncture points using an herb (mugwort). It helps regulate the body, strengthen the immune system and may be used to treat pain conditions when there is underlying cold.
  • CuppingCuppingOxygen is removed from a glass cup creating a partial vacuum when it is placed on the skin causing mild suction to the the skin and underlying tissues. Cupping is used to move blockages causing pain or to expel invading pathogens such as at the onset of cold and flu.
  • Heat TherapyHeat TherapyDeep penetrating (far) infrared heat may be used in combination with acupuncture to enhance treatment effect.
  • Dietary TherapyDietary TherapyUsing prescribed natural foods to aid in healing. Individualized dietary therapy is based on each persons underlying imbalance and it is often an integral part of the treatment plan.
  • Electric StimulationElectric StimulationA very low level electrical current may be applied to specific points or to the acupuncture needles. It may be used to reduce pain or enhance treatment effect.
  • Tuina MassageTuina MassageTuina is a form of massage used in traditional Chinese medicine to enhance the overall treatment. Tuina massage focuses on the area of pain, acupressure points, energy pathways (meridians), muscles and joints. It is commonly used for musculoskeletal conditions as it can relax the muscles. In a typical session, tuina is performed with the client wearing loose fitting clothing.
